Entryway Facelift

Entryway Facelift

Hi! My name is Sara, welcome to my portfolio! I am here to share some stories behind my most recent projects, let's start with my personal home... Hope you enjoy!

In 2019 we were on the hunt for a new home to accommodate our growing family.  We searched high and low, but finally settled on a real "fixer upper".  I remember our realtor at the time asking us which one we were most excited to see...I let him know it was the last on the list with the "scary" photos. There was just something about it!

Needless to say it has been a project from the start. Sometimes it feels never ending, but ultimately I love the change! The house was really frozen in time. You can tell a lot of thought and time was put into each selection.  The house had great bones, just needed a little more love and an update.

One of the first projects I took on was the wallpaper and we had help with the carpet removal.  Did I mention the entire house was wall to wall carpet (shag included).  I had never removed wallpaper before and it was on SO many walls.  Through this process I learned how to remove wallpaper, skim coating, and minor demo.  Here is a look at the before.

There were doors that separated the entryway to the family room.  We decided to remove those to open the space and create a more seamless transition between rooms. Then we decided to go with an LVP throughout the whole house, to hopefully put up with the daily abuse of toddlers and a dog. We are so thankful for the durability of the Pergo flooring.  Next, I wanted to add some interest to the entryway so I decided to add a board and batten detail and a moody accent color. Overall, we are so happy with this transformation. It has created a much more open and welcoming feeling when first walking into our home.
